Pen
Duick was born a very long time ago, this gaff-rigged cutter
was called Yum when she emerged in 1898 from the drawing board
of William Fife III. She was an elegant litlle racing boat,
but it cannot be denied that she was by no mean as beautiful
as she is today. She had been commissioned by a Mr Cummins,
an Irishman living in Cork and built in a local yard. |

Black/White Hull

Her
name changed several times and was christened Pen Duick by her
1935 owner, Jean Lebec who then sold it to Guy Tabarly in a
deal that would secure the entry of this legendary name in the
history of sailing and ocean racing. She was later restored
in 1989 by Eric Tabarly, Guy Tabarly's eldest son. |
